Walking out shoulder boards- Heer 1938/39

Post by SchutzeHagemann »

What would be more appropriate for a 1938, 1939 walking out impression?

1. Pre-war triangular boards with chain stitched IR?
2. Pre-war triangular boards with embroidered IR?
4. Pre-war triangular boards with metal IR?
5. Rounded end bottle green boards with chain stitched IR?
6. Rounded end bottle green boards with embroidered stitched IR?
7. Rounded end bottle green boards with metal IR?
8. Chain stitched IR wool slip ons?

Too many choices! From all of the pictures I have seen these are all of the options.

It depends on your rank sir , and there are several options - I'd love to see the chain stitching on the round end shoulder boards , never come across it , always thought it was confined to the earlier " pointed " variety .

They are for my unit, all Obergefreiter and under.

I have seen a few shoulder boards on the WAF that were the rounded edge and chain stitched. I just dont know what was more common, or appropriate.

All Obergefreiter or under - then I'd choose , between earlier pointed/chain stitched , and the " newer " round ended with Waffenfarbe . But you don't need metal numbers for other ranks , up to unteroffizier chain stitched numbers , senior NCOs silver washed metal numerals , commissioned officers gold .
Remember , for walking out , you can wear the appropriate lanyard for arm of service .
