Re: Early shoulderboards
Goethe , I've looked at these , and they're not the chain link stitching they used at the time , they're far too modern - unless I've missed something .

Servus Bergkameraden,
GD43 makes very high quality shoulderboards, sadly they do not offer chain-stiched lettering. They only do machine-embroidery; suitable for some requirements (GD Divsison , etc.), but not so for pre-war GJR numbers.
If you have the skills or access to doing the work yourself, I can attest that the boards themselves are truly gorgeous and worth consideration. Be aware, there is some sticker-price shock with buying them.
Horrido!

Re: Early shoulderboards
Ive been learning how to hand embroider. Chain stitching isnt all that hard. With some practice and some patience im sure you could learn, and save some cash in the process. My first hand embroidered item was a Totenkopf collar tab. Granted its not perfect..but i impressed myself. Chainstitching is FAR easier...
If your interested i have the instructions and diagrams for chain stitching and can scan them for you.

Re: Early shoulderboards
Schuster's chain linked embroidery is hand done by a pro, probably the best, hands down.
