German engineer overalls

Post by askhati »

Am looking for some information on a subject that I happened to stumble across on a WW2 airsoft site:

Image

Can anyone give more information on the overall type, the shoulder boards (having a hard time recognizing them), and the general use of overalls by the Germans? (wide topic, I know) I have come across Panzer overalls before, but this is the first engineer/civilian(?) overall that I am seeing on the topic.

Btw, the gent in the photo is the grandfather of the guy who posted.

He is a civilian official attached to the German Navy (Marinebeamte)part of the insignia can be seen on the shoulder board, pips and large eagle, the boards would be a blue and silver twist.John

Ta, much appreciated. Any idea whether the overalls would have been civilian-procured (i.e. differing from individual to individual), or was there a standard design for them?

Looking at the photo,I do not think these are overalls, but the KM tropical tunic as he is wearing the summer issue metal breast eagle and there is a glimpse of a top pocket and wearing shoulder boards which I do not think you would wear on work clothes in case of snagging on machinery ect.
