For insignia i personally use Nicholas Morigi or Militaria Net
if one or the other hasnt got the particular item i need, their
insignia has been spot on Imho, Morigi is probably the best
as he stocks the "de-luxe" versions, unfortunately he doesn't
stock everything and his range is quite small however Militaria
Nets range of cloth insignia is quite large and you can usually
find what you want at one or the other and items i have
recieved off both dealers have been very good quality,
this is just my opinion, hope this has been some help??

Thanks for the info. I found that NM metal skulls are pretty poor copies the eagles are good. I forgot to say that it's metal ones I'm after. I'm currently shocked at the poor quality skulls on the go, I really thought that this day and age they would be spot on! Maybe there is a market for excellent copies?

The MN skulls are better thanks but not spot on. Thanks again for the info very helpfull.

I had skulls and birds from Morigi, but was not satisfied with the quality.
Prongs were very weak.

These skulls and birds are far the best, they are postwar originals..

Many thanks, just ordered a set as the picture quality is not good but they seem better than other sellers.

Hi Guys

I Checked a few pieces that I was sent earlier this year and I forgot about, SOF oddly enough have just had some new Skulls and Chickens and these are made from brass and painted silver very heavy and substantial the prongs are very strong and the stamping detail is good on both the eagle and the skull, I think Peter did mention that they were from SM Wholesale although I might be wrong, but might be worth a look anyway what do you think guys?

I've been having this problem also. I've searched the internet, including some Polish websites. Unfortunatley, it seems all of the domestic vendors in the UK (except one) have been stocking the same Eagle and Skull sets from the same Pakistani supplier.

Here is what Nicholas Morigi, Soldier of Fortune and Richard Underwood are stocking...(I know because I bought them and sent them back)

Image

Note the teeth of the skull are modelled on the Joker.

The best reproduction (if you can get them) are the ones stocked by http://www.1944militaria.com/

Image

The only set that are decent, by no means perfect, and what all the rest used to carry are these...

These are still stocked by Anthony Hole at http://www.militaria-net.co.uk

Here is a real pair for comparison purposes...

Hope this helps.

These are the Polish made sets(I have passed on the dealers details, but it seems he doe's not answer his emails.)The dealer I got these from always stalls out at W&P.They are cast aluminium and you can see from the reverse they would not fool a collector, even though a couple of the skulls have turned up on WAF with "are these right"questions.I have seen the odd skull stocked by the 'American badge Co' and sometimes on ebay.John
