Re: Best Tunic on the mart.. on a budget..
Thanks.
This is at (m1steelpot)
The only place i have seen that sells correct "Generic" Late-War Litzen is 'At the Front'.
And i have also seen the Bottle Green shoulder boards used till 1945.
Another little interesting fact. The M-1940 Feldbluse was made until 1943 and was issued till the end of the war.
Since I also do Ost-Battalion the green boards are correct.I have seen plenty of photo's of Eastern volunteer Heer soldaten with them throughout the war.
Here is a photo of POA "Russian Army of Liberation" troops with them on M42 & M43 Feldblusen in 1943.

Re: Best Tunic on the mart.. on a budget..
Right iv,e cleaned the crap out of this thread including removing some argumentative parts of a couple of posts.
Nothing personal about it anyone just it aint fair on the Op who wants info not an argument between Peiper and others, since it has been cleaned up some of the posts may now appear stupid and maybe the origional posters of these posts would like to cut our any argumentative stuff.
Oh and by the way when i say please dont get a bun fight going on a thread i mean dont do it so please dont try to have the last say with me cos it wont work.
Cheers now
Dave

That does look pretty good im no expert on these tunics but it looks good to me. Nothing like looking at an origional to get it right but even then there are variations within origionals so we have been told many times on here.

looks like, people buy and wear what they want at the end
of the day, and obviously if people dont want to listen thats up
to them, it seems a waste of a good forum to me, when i first
started, people gave me advice, some was good others not
so good, thats the way it goes, the same as on here, some
listen others get offended at constructive criticism, i won't
bother in future and let people get on with it

I don't think Mr. POA necessarily has the credentials to be starting internet feuds over "who has the best what".....

This was bought in the 80's from a dealer who got most of his stock from Russia,
however this tunic has generic collar patches and shoulder straps i have been
told are Pz-Gren waffenfarbe, this insignia was originally on the tunic when
purchased, it is dated 41 and stamped "Lago-Wien", so looks to be made in
Vienna/Austria, so maybe an Austrian Mountain Regt (see below for pic of lining)

Re: Best Tunic on the mart.. on a budget..
Here's a pic of the combat tunic iam using at the moment,
one which i had used for a while (my M40) was cut up but
this M43 i bought a few years ago from Epic but have only
wore it a few times, it will be in constant use when the new
season starts lol, i had bought it when prices were low but
now on their site (epic militaria) they have gone up to £84.95
which i reckon is still worth it imho, it is i think produced by
Sturm but could be wrong, on their site they say they are made
in Germany, however i reckon it is a decent copy for the money
and is made from quality wool and the cut is quite good however
they come with quite long sleeves and have to be altered, i have
a few other repro tunics from different suppliers namely Rau, militaria
Net, epic militaria and others and all are very good but depends on
your budget/tastes, this is a middle of the road type budget tunic
which i reckon superseeds the Asian jobs in quality plus it doesnt
cost a fortune

Re: Best Tunic on the mart.. on a budget..
They look good Peiper. Thanks for showing.
But you could have been a bit less rude and we would not have started off on the wrong foot...
And (valkyrie895).I have seen a few original uniforms in person so i do know a bit about them and the quality repro's.And i'm not looking to start a "feud"..I was just putting a point across...That is all.

I was merely pointing out something wrong with your portrayal, as i say we have all done it,POA1944 wrote:They look good Peiper. Thanks for showing.

you shouldnt be so touchy, i remember when i first started on here they used to really rip my
posts to shreds, much worse, you need to have a thicker skin if you want to stop on here,
there are people far worse than i, just some friendly advice, anyway forget it now i dont hold
grudges unlike some on here lol, have a good Christmas

Re: Best Tunic on the mart.. on a budget..
Well overall there is nothing wrong with my shoulder boards. They are green.I should know cause I own them. And the reason they look black is due to my crappy phone camera. But anyways. No hard feelings.I was just putting a point across.Merry Christmas to you too.

Re: Best Tunic on the mart.. on a budget..
As long as we're talking about good tunics for cheap, I know I'll catch FlaK for this, but Hessen Antique has sturm tunics for 40 USD. In their current state, they are harshly bad. Too long, too wide, Heer tunic, but with 2 belt hook holes per station. In it's current state, you would be laughed at if you tried calling it a viable choice for a tunic. But here's what I did.
Hessen Sturm Tunic= $49 dollars shipped.
Insignia set=Free, had it sitting around
Alterations: Shortened three inches
taken in three inches in the waist and one in the shoulders
additional belt hook holes added
sleeves removed, shortened from the top, and reattached=$18 at local tailors' shop
Total cost: $67
End result, "custom made", perfectly fitting, correct pattern, $CHEAP$ tunic for a grand total of $67. I dare you to do better than that.
By the way, when the tunic arrived, it had a tag that said "80% wolle 20% viscose" Guess what............
Just some food for thought.
