Blue Division camouflage help?

Post by SpainshSS »

I need help with two questions about the camo the Blue Division had. I was told that the Division was only issued the Splinter pattern. I have found pictures that back that up, untill I found this pictures of members of the Blue Division. I just don't know what pattern it is and was hopping one of you all knew what pattern it is. The Second photo is of a group of Spaniards wearing smock. Are these smock splinter pattern or are they Sumpfmuster. I can't tell so help if you can thanks.

The guys on the left and right, are wearing SS planetree, can't tell exactly what version of planetree though.
The guy in the middle is hard to tell, but my guess is SS blurred edge.

Thanks Pz Gren Hoffmann and Gliderinf for your help.
I believe both photos were take in 42,dose that helps knowing what version smocks they are? Was it common for Heer units to get SS planetree smocks? Or did these Spaniards just do what solders do and "appropriate" them somewere
Anyhow thanks again for the help.

I think that the photo is blurred not Splitter, especially if it comes from 1942 as Spainsh wrote.

Then again, could the photo be of SS troops posing with Blue Division soldiers? Difficult to say. Did the Blue Division fight alongside any SS units?

I dont believe so, the Nord was in Finland, the Polizei division was on the same zone as the "Blau" south of Leningrad.

No - it aint common - also not likely to be self apropriated - they will have been issued

Does rather look like two units posing together though.

2nd shot - they dont apear to have hoods ? and if it is 42 then they would need to be splinter.

If its not 42 then they could concievably be blurred splinter - although you would expect hoods.

Definately not Sumfmuster. (hoods could have been removed?)

You need more pics :)
