Wardrobe of an SS-Schütze...
Not for reenactment purposes but for historical research. Could somebody make a complete breakdown of a typical Kradschütze (motorcylce trooper) in the recce battalion of the Leibstandarte, as it would have been in late 1940? Clothing from head to feet and personal items from Soldbuch to toothbrush. I know this is probabely alot of work but all help is very much appreciated.
Have a look at Pages 6,7 and 8 of a Soldbuch for a list of equipment. I'll try and post some more info later today.

For early war, the kit issue will be standard whether Heer or SS.

Definitely, that's why I have over 500 pages already. The history includes officers and nco biographies, awards, transfers, promotions, a complete day-to-day history, TO&E's, OoB's and lots and lots of veterans accounts. A lives work. I am currently in the progress of discussing the formation of the Abteilung in Metz with veterans who were already there in 1940. Yesterday I discussed the transfer of new recruits from Ellwangen to Metz with an 82 year old Oscha. We talked about the transport, who was in charge of the transport, their lodgings (is that the right English word? Stube) in Metz, how they were assigned to the different companies and platoons, platoon commanders, the Spieß, Schirrmeister, Waffenmeister, equipment, basic and specialist training, drill instructors, etc., etc. I need all details, well, basically before its too late.Fwbl Dollman wrote:I would have thought the history of the Aufklärungs would have involved where they served, How they were formed, strengths, deployment, engagments etc.....
BTW, greeting to old friend Bill Medland
It's all in there..... that's the book you need.Fwbl Dollman wrote:Obtain a copy of Andrew Mollos "Uniforms of the SS Collected Edition" ISBN 1-85915-0048-9
It has all the information you could want in it including scale of issue and descriptions plus pictures. Clothing, equipment, the lot.
What do you want this information for?
