Welcome mate, have a look at http://www.worldwartwobooks.com/

As i recall they have some books about German Police and Feldgendarmerie, failing that try Schiffer Publications or a Google for WW2 military books. there are lots of specialist publications out there.

:D

Have a look at http://www.feldgendarmerie.com. There are 2 other books on the FG, 'Chain Dogs' by Robert E Witter - they are OK and give a reasonable overview of the FG.

There should, hopefully next year, be a new in depth book covering the Feldgendarmerie, FJK and GFP but I have to finish writing it first!!

Feel free to ask any questions etc. and you'll get answers whereever possible.

Regards

Hello!

Thanks a lot for your answers! Now I must buy Chain Dogs ASAP 8)

Feldjaeger: your web site is really good!
In the book "German security and police soldier" I read that basic weapon of the FG were Pistol and Kar 98.
Did every FG had both of them?

I have a question about shoulderboards: which one will be correct for M 40 Uniform-black with Orange-rot Waffenfarbe or Feldgrau + Waffenfarbe?
I'd like to reenact FG from the yeras 44-45.

Regards!

Most FG were issued the k98 as their basic weapon. Pistols were mostly only issued to soldiers from Stellengruppe 'G' (Obergefreiter, Unteroffizier and Unterfeldwebel), however those from Stellengruppe 'M' (Schütze, Oberschütze and Gefreiter) are often seen with them in photos. The various Kriegsstärkenachweisungen for the Feldgendarmerie only show machine pistols issued to solo motorcyclists and officers - again photos will show some deviation from this. If you intend to be an NCO, a pistol and k98 would be good, if you intend to be an enlisted man, then just a k98 would work best.

For an M40 uniform, your boards should be feldgrau with orange waffenfarbe. If you are doing a very late war impresssion, don't wear the arm eagle as it was withdrawn from use in late 44.

Feel free to pick my brains if you've got any more queries on the Feldgendarmerie!
