Headgear advice sought.
Head gear.
I have the two "Chain dogs" books and the two Osprey books by Gordon Williamson, but can't find this cap in illustrated in it.
Can anyone identify the rak and circumstances within which it was worn ?
Thanks to all in advance.
The cap badge is very bright - Is it too bright ?
If so can anyone offer any advice on how to dull it down ?
Thanks again in advance.
(Excuse the clutter).

As Dave said, it's a Gendarmerie schirmmütze for EM and NCO ranks. This is a second pattern cap, worn after September 1942.

Re: Headgear advice sought.
The cap badge appears to be similar to the old British Army cap badges of the last 30 or so years made of Staybright or similar in which case forget trying to make it look older and correct and try to get a proper replacement metal one (either genuine or repro).

Dave & Feldjager ,
Thank you for your info. and insight.
I bought it from Durhamtroop who had some stuff for sale over the weekend , I got in rather quick on it, that a gorget.
It will need some attention to dull down the bright yellow paint work , real McCoy on the left.
If you can point towards a replacement either a period piece or a good quality reproduction I would be grateful.
Thanks again.

Dave , thank you for the links.
I checked DF
Detlev Niemann late last night , he had sold one for 30 Euros earlier in the day , I will just keep an eye out for one.
The caps are nice but very expensive.
Attached the makers label on the underside of the cap , all in all very happy with the quality of the item.
