Here is a pic of me with a repro traffic wand I got from a DIY source. The gentleman took a Post-war wand and applied "reflective" paint. There are subtle differences between this and the real deal that can be spotted upon close inspection...but from a couple feet away, it looks pretty close. From wartime photos, I've noticed the "white" outer ring varies in width a bit. Correct me if I'm wrong here...

I've since removed the leather wrist strap.

(sorry to "necropost" :P )

I'm pretty happy with it. Completely worth it to hold out and find someone who could "do it right" -- or at least get pretty close!

What i done to my post war ones was to sand off the edges the red part , then go over the entire piece with the sander , go easy on this , then mask off the wooden area , get some white spray paint ( i had some hammerite so used it ) i was lucky as i used to work for a graphics company and i had some red circles made out of vinyl which i applied after the white disc had dried .
Hope this is of some help to you , good luck and enjoy
