Dichloromethane should shift it (Nitromors or similar products contain this).

Nitromors, or any of the paint stripping products should do the job. Just watch your skin!

thanks, need to strip both sides the chap i got it from had tried to re do one side rather badly and had put the fg stamp on it and added halt to it, which is odd cos thats wrong and he is also an heer fg re-enactor, tho his main wand is one of the post war red and yellow ones which he says is correct, is this true, or are they just post war ones, all the pics I have seen show the standard white red ones.

War time ones were red and white. The ones with the paper 'Halt Polizei' labels on are a fantasy item.

Seen a History channel type programme recently about WW2 and the Polizei had one of those "fantasy Halt Polizei" wands.
Could it be a brief pre-war thing?

Do you know what the programme was?

The only style that appears in the 3 polizeidienstvorschriften is the same as the Army style. They don't appear to be commonly used as the police appear to have used hand signals to control the traffic, same as the British police of that time.

may try sanding it off first as the chap i got it off has painted part of the handle with the roundel DOH, fine sand paper may well do the trick, just need to work out how to paint the dam thing lol, does anyone have any measurments on the inner and out circle, may end up making a cut out and then spraying it or hand painting it.

Wartime ones didn't have a strap on them as the vehicles had a bracket for storing them. Having said that, I've seen originals in photos with a length of cord/string/leather around the users wrist or hung up.
