Dave, i have been looking for something to do this for some time, interesting that the best way to do this is to split the seam.
I will have to look round some haberdashers mate, thanks.

I have seen some tunics in photos with the brown cuffs etc but no piping maybe you know the regs on this ?

I do have the opportunity of a Administrative police tunic (genuine comes with providence and other paperwork) loath to wear this though in case it gets damaged, i believe the leatherwork and headgear colour for this was black, is this correct mate.

Those without piping are usually TeNo uniforms (they are piped in black, but without a decent closeup photo it's not always that obvious. There was also an early TeNo transitional tunic with no piping down the front - a few of these have come onto the market recently. It was also not uncommon for wartime uniforms to be recycled post war, and in some cases the piping was removed (close examination of a tunic like this reveals where this has been done). As of 01.II.38, however, all tunics had to be piped accordingly.

The Verwaltungspolizei did indeed have black leather accoutrements. The piping was light gray or red (depending on sub branch, though not to be confused with the wine-red originally used by the Schupo until September 42), though the red was discontinued in November 44).

I personally wouldn't use original uniforms at all - they are irreplaceable in some cases. Best left in collections!

Dave
