SS Feldjager

Post by spindlerss »

I have a copy of a photo of a Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Feldjager and was wondering if anyone knows anything more about this aspect of the FeldjagerKorps. Unit designation, numbers, vehicle markings (if any) equipment etc.

Can anyone also shed any light on how the duties of the FG differed to that of a Feldjager?

Also looking for gorget and armbands so if anyone can help there that would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

:) :)

Hi there,

First off, have a look at this page on our website - FJ info - this gives a brief overview of their organisation etc.

There were no SS Feldjäger per se as the Korps stood in its own right. Their manpower was drawn from all branches of service (Heer, SS, Luftwaffe, Kreigsmarine etc.). In most cases they retained their original uniforms and insignia and their role was denoted by the gorget and armband.

In some aspects, their duties mirrored those of the Feldgendarmerie, however they were slightly more inclined to discipline and order than general policing duties. The main difference was their authority, which came directly from the OKW and gave them far greater powers.

Cyrus Lee in the US does the armbands, however the gorgets are getting harder to find now. Originals are £1100+ at the moment. There are high quality fakes which sometimes come on the market, however these don't appear all that often.

I'd be interested to see your photograph.

Feel free to ask or PM me with any more questions etc.

MfG

Hi all,

Back after 2 days in Cornwall.

The armbands at militaria-net are unfortunately wrong - in all the photographs I've seen, the typeface is plain sans serif. I've tracked down an original armband in a US collection, and I'm waiting for photographs. Cyrus Lee (http://www.soldat.com) does a nice reproduction of the 1st pattern.

TOTLS - I've been warned about this dealer by some friends in the US. I've emailed him numerous times over the gorgets, but have yet to receive a single answer. Caveat emptor!
