FG field kit

Bear with me chaps :roll:

All the original pics show FG with bare minimum field kit is this correct - i.e no e-tools etc

The photos I have nearly always show this.

The veterans I have spoken to have always said they left it in their vehicles - if it wasn't needed, they didn't carry it. Certainly when on point duty, even rifles etc. were left as they got in the way. The common consensus seems to be belt, pistol, bayonet, mapcase and occasionally the left ammo pouch. They rarely bothered with a gas mask.

The only exception to this, some have said, was when high ranking officers where known to be in the area and a 'proper' turnout was required, or where enemy activity was likely and they may need to go to ground.
