Had a look through a few books of mine , not specifically FG mind , just uniform or period books . Pretty much all the Heer pics in Europe/Russia are of guys in basic , Fieldgrey uniform , plus rubberised coat , MP38/40 , little lolly pop . Bare helmet .

Tropical - shorts , shirts , long socks , short tropical boots , pith helmet / cap , or Breeches , long tropical boots , shirt and tie with tunic .

No camo . It seems to me , and I may be wrong , that these guys wore a very basic uniform , that rubberised or hot climate overcoats were popular ( all those motorbikes and standing around in the rain I suppose ) , and that in many cases , their uniforms were smart .

Hope this is of some use , maybe others could add their thoughts , or dispute mine ?

Remember the rubber coats were not personal issue items, like the gorgets.

So we're issued individually , or en masse to a unit , depending on individual or unit circumstances ?

From the research I've done, they were issued on a daily/short term basis if an individual required them for their duties. Gorgets were issued on a trupp basis, not per person.

Thank you Feldjager , interesting info . From the OPs point of view though , they're still part of any impression you want to do on the day .

Personally , I've thought of doing a Gebirgs " Zoll " impression ( customs ) - from my research though , I think I'd struggle to get the shoulder boards , and especially the cuff title !

Originals come up on ebay a lot - they are not that expensive as a rule of thumb.

eBay.de will probably give more results. I got a complete set for about GB£45
