Field Police ranks

Just a quick question. Ive noticed in photos and from what ive read that most field police were at least NCOs. What was the most common rank of the FG? Plus could a no rank Private join the FG? Any info would help. Thanks

If the British Military Police system was anything like the German one then MP's were given ranks
(Lance Jack to start with) so they could have a bit of authority over the other rankers, especially
when dealing with a group of drunken squaddies lol
