Guten Abend Kameraden!

Thanks to all for genial "Hallo!",nice to find People with the same interesting.
I come to the Hobby Reenactment over the german TV,then come a Report about reenactments in the United States the title was :"Hitlers new Figther!" i see this and my first mind was :What to Hell.....fantastic! I must make the same! The Report was over the Reg."Deutschland" from the Div."Das Reich". The german Reporters reports very bad over this and call ever "the stupid Americans, dont have a hale basis about the german History!" they called the people "Weekendnazis" typicall for german press. In Germany is WW2 Reenactment forbidden, and many people meen "Neonazis and Reenacter its the same. But the most of german dont interest the part of history.
They meen its sad when people the "bad time" reenacten. But for me it was fantastic to see people ,they living history!
And i dont forget few words from one of the Reenacter in the Report,he say to the german Reporters:Why have you Germans , so a really bad measure to your History? i can only say ,yes He has right, why?

Grüße aus Berlin

 I probably know the re-enactors you saw on the tv report! What year was that? Even here in America the German re-enactors are talked about in the same way. This is on reason we do it though, to educate the public and the media.

In US the same?

Post by Axisloyal »

Hi Kelly!

Its sad in Us its the same with the press? the year of Report was 2004.
But in the Report you can see,a normal Schoolclass stand in front of a Reenactor in Sturmbannführer tunic. And the Reenactor illustraded the Class the Battle of Huertgen Forest. And the episode of the Reenactment.
The Reporters call this is normal for a american Schoolclass when they show a Reenactment. Really? I dont know.
May be was this only for the press?

But i reenact for fun not for the Press, what the Press write over Reenactment its for me whatever!

I'm sure I know the re-enactors and yes it is the same here with the press. No, it's not normal for our school classes. In fact there is a lot that they are no longer taught here, it's been removed from the history books. Most times at a school it is a group that volunteered just to help the children have a more real idea of history instead of just from a book. I'm sure what they showed in the report was done just for the press.
I also re-enact for fun, but it's an added benefit to be able to teach children and adults about history and let them actually touch it.
Ever have any questions, I'll be happy to try to help. Just ask :-)

Willkommen im Forum!

As the "Forum Oma", I just take the liberty to write to our Kamerad in German to get a few facts right...I am sure you guys don´t mind, besides it might just improve your knowledge of German reading it every now and then

In Germany is WW2 Reenactment forbidden, and many people meen "Neonazis and Reenacter its the same

Beate

Hallo Beate!
