Tanaka, you have just made my point for me. I take it you are not a licenced firearms holder? Sorry if im wrong. I collect firearms. I do not know much about swords of any type. The governing bodies over shooting in the UK allowed the government to nibble away at calibers and weapons because they said to themselfs "well its only this and this we lose but we still have the rest".

The line was moved every time because they believed that there caliber pistol would be left alone, if other pistols were banned. They also allowed semi-auto rifles to be banned to "protect" the other weapons.

Now if I place swords into your last sentence its the asme arguement that was used to ban pistols

yes but all swords are basicly the same, ie, they are sharp and long, a sword thats capable of causing a serious injury, thats what i ment

We all know government departments know f all about the world of collecting of anything. You know the fine art of a sword but I dont and all I can see is a sword that is a danger to public safty. The same way the government will see them if one is used in the future.

surely to be a danger to public safety atleast one must have caused harm to the public. I haven't seen any reports of a samurai sword being used to harm a member of the public, last time i've seen it reported was during the war, because whats been banned isn't a samurai sword, technically.

Im not getting worked up over this, like some people are i might add, chem. Mainly because if the goverment are going to do what they want anyway whats the point of getting your blood pressure up about it. Lifes to short.
People keep moaning about the goverment taking away are liberties and civil rights like its something new, yet every goverment we've ever had has done this to some extent so why is it still such a shock to people when it happens now.

This is going nowhere
