Trying to match a font on an award document

Post by leicanthrope »

Has anyone ever come across the font used in this (and a few other award docs) certificate?

in the image, crop one of the words out and you can upload it to http://www.whatthefont.com that tries to pattern match the font.

Unfortunately, no real matches for that font, or the other one I'm hunting for. Alas, the hunt continues...

Hi all,

I've run into the same problem and even though it takes a little longer I make the missing font letters. I don't know what software you use to recreate your documents, but I manually recreate some of the lettering/images using Illustrator to get a nice crisp lettering.

I use Photoshop. Sometimes, if I can get a good enough scan of a document, I can just clean it up and turn it into a PDF. That's generally the exception though. Most of the time though I just scale an original appropriately and then type over it via layers.

I might just end up trying to figure out how to create a font.

I'm looking for the font that the documents themselves use, not the typewriter font. I've got a 1939 vintage typewriter that I can use on the documents once they're printed.

Thanks,

Precisely that! Those two fonts seem to be used quite often in Third Reich award documents, and I haven't been able to find anything that is really all that close.
