Thats not a crusher Barry, its a Schirmutze with a shiny vulcan fibre peak and black chinstrap/band, for walking out.

I'm Pretty sure theres a picture out there of Karl Ullrich (3rd SS) wearing a palm smock modified with pockets and a zip up the front, as kit kat says more common than probably thought especially with senior nco's/officers.
