Re: New Splinter B ssmock out of China
The camo print isn't 100% but then neither is Barry Lyndons - without actually seeing one for real, I cannot comment on the cut of the smock. But as Dagda says - don't bother, go to panther store

Re: Darkening Fj Boots?
Assuming the boots are the same as the ones sold by Zeugmeisterei which are made from undyed leather then you need to get some leather dye - this is easily applied and once dried just a quick polish with normal boot polish to finish them off

Re: New Smock
I would have to agree with Luger & Stig here Zeugmeisterei is a retailer not a manufacturer - most of the 'ZM' kit is made in czech republic if I'm not mistaken. I bought my ZM smock about 4 years ago and it has generic zips and poppers not the riri and prym branded hardware used on his more rec...

Re: From green to splinter (B of course!)
Due to supply problems, many FJ in Normandy were issued with green step-in smocks - from the photographic evidence, they appear to be fairly common amongst the enlisted men (so not just a case of 'alte hase' wearing them to show veteran status).

Re: SASAK strikes again
From the book of SASAK chapter 1 verse 1: The path of the righteous FJ reenactor is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the farbie and the tyranny of splinter A knockensack. Blessed is he, who in the name of accuracy and good impressions, shepherds the farbs through the valley of darkness, for h...

weLL, just been browsing sof's site again, and found they have added a Paratroopers 1st Pattern Smock - Green to there site . sturm's ? looks to be a different colour to sturms step in ? Tom judging by the way the top pocket flaps go under the shoulder seam and as its only £50, I'd say it probably ...

Re: Can anyone identify the maker of this smock?
Is the fabric hbt or twill - if its hbt, it could be one of the smocks made for Band of Brothers.

Re: cut down?
FJ did occasionally shorten their jumpsmocks, as you know, late war the FJ were used more as regular infantry and so the length wasn't needed and could be more of a hinderance, so some guys did shorten them to be similar length to the LW field jacket. Also there is a jumpsmock that has been cut down...

Re: New front lace FJ boots from Sturm?
Trust Sturm to use the wrong type of leather! you'd think by now they could make something right! on second thoughts maybe not - they've been using the wrong camouflage fabric for years - why should they stop and get somthing correct now but not being correct hasn't stopped folk from buying Sturm ki...

Re: Best retailer for FJ kit?
As this new fabric is supposed to be splinter B then it should be similar to the zeugmeisterei splinter b fabric. however - the zeugmeisterei pattern is the correct size and thus repeats only twice on the length of a knochensack.
