War and Peace 2007

I presume there will be a Beltring this year? I've flown over for about six of them-my last was 2004 which was not very good compared to those of 1998 to 2000 where the number of pitches and reenactors was tremendous. Is it worth going now? I was quite dissapointed last trip-Ebay has taken away from...

Looking for 116th Winhund reenactor in Yorkshire

Try to find an old mate of mine Phillip who ran the 116th back in 1995 and often can be seen at Beltring with the unit doing displays-like to contact him if he's still in the hobby. Thanks:)

Going back

More so when the veterans are with us-which happens when we go to Iwo, there are usually both American and Japanese vets the on the island for the 1 day pilgramage. On Saipan and Peleliu the vets usually stay at the hotel and cannot venture into the jungle being that it is too dangerous for them-and...

Tabi's

Tabi's were very comfortable and they are to this day one of the more common items to find in the tunnels of Iwo. I've found more pairs and single Tabi's in the tunnels than I have rotten leather field boots and discarded Japanese gas masks and mess tins. Each year I've gone (2002, 2003 and 2005) I'...

Iwo Jima

Speaking of Iwo Jima, if you're interested-here is a write up of the 60th (2005). This was my third trip to the island. If interested I can post more pics of Iwo and Saipan and also Peleliu. H. Glenn.

Okinawan Caves and Bunkers

I might be able to help if any of you have questions. I lived on Okinawa from 1970 to 1976 and spent most of my time exploring the many defensive positions and over-grown battle areas. Got into a fair deal of trouble for a kid:) These days I go to places like Saipan-Peleliu and Iwo Jima to explore-t...
