I read that the book in English isn't a great translation. It probably needs a new treatment, like the prequel about the Koskela family got. The book, even as a bad translation, is still a fantastic read, though. Slim chance of that happening I am afraid. Tiny market - who is interested? Get your s...

Are there any websites on the conversion process of British APC's into Stugs for Band of Brothers?

I amcurious as to how it was done. Incidentaly, the proportions on the stug look a little off, but then again, I am no armour expert.

It also appears to have taken on board a lot of contemporary war film making styles, whilst maintaining a sense of individuality. Some of the Soviet uniforms leave a lot to be...

I already speak German, a little Polish and some Russian. there's more to Finland than anti-Swedish outbursts, and heavy consumption of alcohol No, there's random bursts of knife-related violence as well :D Seriously, what's the root of the problem that Finns have with Swedes? you both seem like su...

No, I'll stick with the Finnish. It's not as if I was in a hurry. Not often you meet someone from England who's keen to speak another language :D Plenty of jobs out there for Scandinavian language group speakers. All a question of how far you want to go! (edit-added below) Don't believe the stereot...

Trotter's book is a decent enough history of the war. Sadly, if one really wants to learn about the conflict you need to get to grips with the language. Sadly, the war is too niche in regards to the point of view of a publisher for even a fraction of these books to be published. Such is life! You g...

Re: Wierd Tankage on film

Just got the Finnish national classic 'The Unknown Soldier' (Tuotematon Sotilas) a few weeks ago and have finally had a chance to watch it. It's a great film, somewhere between one of the more hard-bolied US war films like Attack and All Quiet on the Western Front. One odd thing, though - we're use...
