WW2 Waffen SS, Other Ranks Belt Buckle.

I have a Waffen SS, other ranks belt buckle for sale. Condition is excellent considering the fact that it would appear to have been combat worn. The details are sharp and crisp with silver paint remaining to the front and rear of the buckle. The buckle is unmarked. Any questions or additional photos...

German Lafette 42 & Mgz34 Optic For Sale.

I have for sale my Lafette 42, MG42 machine gun tripod. I originally bought it back in the early 2000’s, having been used post-war by the Austrian Army. It had remained in its post-war, Austrian green paint only until recently when I restored it to its former glory. While adhering to the remains of ...

Re: What chemistry of paint did the Germans use?

Is nitro cellulose interchangeable with cellulose thinners when it comes to thinning and spraying paint?

Re: German paint and its pigment components (spectrophotomet

Problem is, is that my tripod is in Italy and I'm currently in the UK so I don't have access to get a paint match. Ideally I wanted to get a match here in the UK and take the paint back with me but that probably isn't going to happen this time round so I'm just fishing for accurate colours. What I d...

Re: What chemistry of paint did the Germans use?

Pepperpot, The tripod is smothered in post war Austrian medium green. There is no way I would strip/repaint it if it were in original condition. Unfortunately, my tripod is in Italy but from memory, when I was doing some preliminary cleaning with Nitro Cellulose, the paint, be that the Austrian or t...

What chemistry of paint did the Germans use?

I getting back to restoring my Lafette 42 and would rather use a paint chemistry that is as close to that used during the war.
So, what did the Germans use; cellulose, enamel or something else?

Cheers,
Tom.

German paint and its pigment components (spectrophotometer)?

Has anyone taken some good solid WW2 German paint samples and had them matched on a Spectrophotometer so that you now have the nitty gritty data of what pigments each paint is made from. For example, if we take Dunkelgelb the paperwork might say 50% yellow, 25% brown and 25% white or similar - hopef...

Re: stg44 used in Normandy?

Stumbled across this topic and I thought people would be interested to hear of an article that was in 'After The Battle' magazine. To sum up, it was this guy and his family who discovered an untouched bunker on Omaha, I think - maybe Utah, and they found all sorts of odds and sods including an MP43 ...
