Kameraden bis zum Ende, 4.1.Pz.Gr.Rgt.4 'Der Führer'

We are a likeminded group of men who from a very young age have been interested in the German armed forces of World War II.

mg42We always felt that books can only give you so much knowledge, to truly know what life must have been like for the men who lived and fought through one of history darkest hours, living history was the natural progression. Member's have been involved in the living history of the German Armed forces since 1991 and have a combined experience of over 30 yrs.

The current group 'Kameraden bis zum Ende' has been running since 2002. We attend living history shows up and down the United Kingdom, bringing to the public a rare opportunity to see an authentic working Heavy Machine Gun Kompanie within the 1. Battalion of SS- Panzergrenadier Regiment 4. 'Der Führer'

This hobby has led to some truly unique opportunities in film and photographic work. See the Tiger II shoot in Galeri for the American Military magazine Armchair General.

For 2008 'Kameraden bis zum Ende' will be based upon a typical SS Schwere Mg (Heavy machine gun) Kompanie. With 2x MG42 on Laffette. 1x MG34 in the anti aircraft role, as well a supporting infantry section consisting of anti-tank group and a sharpshooter team.

Why 'Führer' (DF).
'Führer' was a PzGr Rgt. Attached throughout the war to SS Div. 'Das Reich' which made up part of the German Waffen-SS, the N.S. regimes political army.

mg42Although the 'DF' Rgt. like many other Armed Forces were implicated in atrocities which happened throughout the war, we believe in taking a un- biased view, all nations carried out atrocities even the ones who won. To say that the Germans alone committed them, worse still solely the Waffen-SS, is a historically inaccurate and an uneducated view.

The Rgt. 'DF' won over 16 Knights crosses and countless other Iron crosses and awards for valour. This made the Rgt. 'DF' one of the most highly decorated Rgts in the German Wehrmacht. For the sake of those men who fought and died remaining comrades to the end, they deserve the right to be remembered as all soldiers of all nations do.
